Chapel Services
To heal in grief, we must shift our relationship with our loved one from one of physical presence to one of memory. A memorial, gathering or celebration of life encourages us to begin this shift, for it provides a natural time and place for us to think about the moments we shared-good and bad-with the loved one who passed. Like no other time before or after the death, a gathering invites us to focus on our past relationship with our loved one to share those memories with others. Family and friends can informally share memories together. Moreover, the sharing of memories at a gathering affirms the worth we have placed on the person who passed, legitimizing our pain. Gatherings also allow others to show up for us to express their support through this journey.
